Bears Place 9th At Hartford Hawk Invitational

South Kent, Conn. -  Freshman Justin Miller placed 11th individually to help0 the Brown men's golf team to a ninth place finish at the Hartford Hawk Invitational, played at the par 72, 6992 yard Bulls Ridge Golf Club nestled in the Northwest Hills of Connecticut.  Brown's 912 team total came on rounds of 306-306-300.

 

UConn took home the team championship with a 54-hole 682, capturing the title by eight shots over second place Loyola (876).  St. John's was third (877), followed by Hartford (884), Sacramento State (889), Rhode Island (890), Sacred Heart (895), Boston College (903), Brown (912), George Washington (921), Towson (923), Drexel (926), Bryant (927), Holy Cross (928), Lehigh (929), Fairfield (932) and Hofstra (942).

 

Miller opened the tournament with a one under par 71, and finished with 75-72 for a 54-hole 218.  Junior captain JD Ardell was close behind, placing 13th individually with solid rounds of 74-74-73—221.

 

Sophomore peter Callas shots rounds of 74-81-75—230, while sophomore Kyohei Itamura came in at 243 on rounds of 87-76-80.  Senior Ryan Hoskins also competed for the Bears, shooting 97-89-86—272.

 

The Bears will be off this weekend and return to action on October 8-9 at the Big Five Invitational.
