Newport, Rhode Island - The Brown men’s golf team completed day one of play at the prestigious Adams Cup of Newport with a team score of 323 at the par-72 Newport National Golf Club.
The star-studded field of 17 is led by New Mexico (287), who leads by four shots over Georgia Southern (291) and SMU (291), followed by Ohio State (296), Connecticut (296), Furman (297), Central Florida (297), DePaul (297), William & Mary (300), Temple (303), Hartford (304), Francis Marion (305), Southern Mississippi (306), Bryant (307), host URI (311), St. Joseph’s (319) and Brown.
Brown junior Michael Amato shot 40-39—79 to lead the Bears. Senior captain John Giannuzzi and freshman John Mylott each shot 81, while freshman JD Ardell came in at 82. Freshman Chris Williams chipped in with 89 for the Bears.
The final round of the Adams Cup of Newport
will be held on Tuesday morning.
