Bears at Baltusrol
When the Ivy League was looking for a venue to host its men’s and women’s golf championship, Brown alumni Jim Noonan ‘58 and Dennis Buchart P’03 stepped up to the plate with a championship course beyond the wildest imagination of the league, its coaches and players. The dream came to fruition for both the Brown men’s and women’s golf teams and their Ivy brethren, April 23-25, with the 54-hole Ivy Championship being played at the Baltusrol Golf Course that sits at the base of Baltusrol Mountain in northern New Jersey, only a stone's throw from New York City.

Bears Place 8th At Caves Valley Spring Intercollegiate
In its final warm-up for next week’s Ivy League Championship, Brown placed 8th at the Caves Valley Invitational, played on the 6,942 yard, par-71, Caves Valley Country Club. The Bears finished with a two-day 660, while Penn captured the team title with a two-day 612.

Junior Michael Amato shot a final day 74 to help the Brown men’s golf team to a ninth place finish at the New England Division I Golf Championship, held at the par-72 Triggs Memorial Golf Club.

Playing in chilly and windy conditions, the Brown men’s golf team shot a first round 317 for eighth place at the New England Division I Golf Championship at the par-72, 6595 yard Triggs Memorial Golf Club. UConn lead the tournament by three shots after a first round 293.

Bears Shoot Final Day 302 To Place 15th at adidas Hoosier Classic
Brown head golf coach Mike Hughes has to be pleased with the improvement of his men’s golf team during three rounds at the adidas Hoosier Classic. The Bears shot an impressive 302 on the final day of play to improve to 15th place in the 19-team tournament played at the par 71, 6,813 yard Indiana University Golf Course.

Williams Earns Match Play Victory in Brown’s 4-1 Loss To #7 Arizona State
The Brown men’s golf team threw a scare into seventh-ranked Arizona State, before falling to the Sun Devils by a 4-1 margin in a match play event at ASU’s Karsten Golf Course. Bears' freshman Chris Williams, playing number four, came up with a stunning 2&1 match play victory over Arizona State’s Spencer Fletcher, a U.S. Amateur qualifier last year.

Brown men’s golf team came in with a three-round 940 on scores of 318, 306, 316, to place 12th at the 54-hole Connecticut Cup, hosted by UConn, and played at the par-72 Ellington Ridge CC. Junior Michael Amato was Brown’s top finisher, placing 23rd overall, with solid scores of 76-76-76—228.

Junior Michael Amato shot 76 - 77 – 153 to place fourth individually and help the Brown men’s golf team to a fifth place finish at the ECAC Division I Championship, held at the par-72 Blue Heron Pines GC.

The Ivy League office announced today that the 2010 Ivy League Men’s and Women’s Golf Championships will be played April 23-25 at the world-renowned Baltusrol Golf Club in Springfield, N.J.

Bears Place 16th At Adams Cup of Newport
The Brown men’s golf team showed improvement in the final two rounds of the prestigious Adams Cup of Newport, finishing the tournament in 16th place with a 54-hole 953 at the tournament held at the par-72 Newport National Golf Club. Southern Methodist (SMU) came from behind to win the team championship by six shots with a 54-hole 876.

The Brown men’s golf team completed day one of play at the prestigious Adams Cup of Newport with a team score of 323 at the par-72 Newport National Golf Club. Brown junior Michael Amato shot 40-39—79 to lead the Bears.

Brown’s men’s golf team shot a solid final round 304 for a two-round 616 at the Navy Fall Classic to finish 15th overall in the strong 17 team field, held at the US Naval Academy Golf Course. Northwestern came from behind to capture the team title with a two-day 552, besting host Navy by 4 shots.

The Brown men’s golf team opened its 2009 fall season on Saturday at the Navy Fall Classic, shooting a first-round 312 at the par-71 6,528 yard US Naval Academy Golf Course. Navy leads the tournament by three shots with a first round 279.

Brown Golf Class of 2013
Brown men’s golf coach Michael Hughes, who just completed his first full season as head coach of the Bears, has announced the Brown golf recruiting Class of 2013. Joining the Bears in the fall are first year student-athletes James Ardell, Jack Mylott and Chris Williams. Hughes expects this talented class to compete immediately for the Bears along with some outstanding returning players.
