Providence, RI - Brown senior kicker Steve Morgan (New Albany, OH) and sophomore wide receiver Buddy Farnham (Andover, MA) have been selected to the 2007 New England Football Writers Football Championship Subdivision All-Star Team. The team, which represents 12 schools, will be honored at the annual New England Football Writers Captains and Awards Banquet on Thursday, December 13 at Casa Di Fior in Wilmington, Mass.
Morgan earned All-New England honors for the third time after he established himself as the greatest kicker in Ivy League football history. A three-time first team All-Ivy selection, Morgan is the Ivy League's all-time leader in career field goals (52) and career kick scoring points (290 points). Morgan's 52 field goals smashed the previous Ivy mark of 45 career field goals, while his 290 kick-scoring points eclipsed the previous Ivy mark of 229 points. The Ivy League's Rookie of the Year as a freshman, Morgan connected on 52 of 70 career field goals and 134 of 136 career extra points, including 30 of 30 extra points in 2007. He also averaged 40.1 yards per punt for the Bears this season.
A true New England product, Farnham, who starred at Andover High School, set an Ivy League sophomore record and led the Ivy League in receptions with 78, sixth best in the nation, and sixth best in the Brown record book. The go-to receiver for the Bears, Farnham made a season high 12 receptions for 159 yards in Brown's win over Dartmouth, and made 11 catches against both Cornell and Princeton. His 885 yards receiving yards ranked third in the Ivy League, 11th best in Brown football history. Buddy also returned kickoffs and punts for the Bears, finishing third in the Ivy League in punt returns, and seventh in the league in kickoff returns.
