Sept. 17, 2007
Providence, Rhode Island - Brown senior tailback Dereck Knight (Pawtucket, RI) was named the Ivy League's Offensive Player of the Week after he etched his name into the Brown record book by running for 208 yards on 33 carries in Brown's season opening 28-17 win over Duquesne. Knight's 208 yards on the ground rank as the 10th best rushing performance in Brown football history.
Knight, a tri-captain of this year's team who graduated from Shea High School, electrified the Brown Stadium crowd on the second play of the game when he bounced outside and ran down the Brown sideline 61 yards for a touchdown. It was Knight's first career 100-yard rushing game, and the first time a Brown runner had gone over the 100-yard rushing mark since November 19, 2005.
Knight and the Bears will be back in action on Saturday, September 22nd against Harvard in the first intercollegiate night football game ever played at Harvard Stadium. Game time is 7:30 p.m.
