July 26, 2006
The annual Ivy League Football Media Day and Golf Outing will be held on Tuesday, August 8, 2006 at the world-renown Yale Golf Course in New Haven, Connecticut.
All eight Ivy League football coaches, including Phil Estes, the head coach of Brown's defending Ivy League Championship team, will gather for a question-and-answer session with the media, beginning at 10:00 a.m. Each head coach will discuss the upcoming 2006 season and the race for the Ivy League title. In addition, the Ivy League pre-season media poll will be released at the press conference. The media is also invited to play golf, beginning at 12:15 p.m.
The Bears, who captured the Ivy League title outright in 2006, are expected to be among the top teams in the Ivy League once again, and will look to win back-to-back Ivy titles for the first time ever.
Ranked 15th nationally at the completion of the 2005 season, Estes' squad returns five All-Ivy players, including All-American linebacker Zak DeOssie, a finalist for the Buck Buchanan Award as the nation's top defensive players.
Senior All-Ivy quarterback Joe DiGiacomo, senior wide All-Ivy receiver Lonnie Hill and senior All-Ivy tackle Alex Doty headline the Bears offense. In addition, All-Ivy junior kicker Steve Morgan returns to the lineup, along with senior Brandon Markey, the Ivy League's top return specialist.
