Former Brown and current New England Patriots wide receiver Chas Gessner '03 is having an outstanding season for the Berlin Thunder in NFL Europe. Gessner is currently tied for the league lead in receiving touchdowns (4), ranks fourth in receiving yards (309), and is tied for tenth in receptions (19).
Gessner, who earned a Super Bowl ring with the champion Patriots last season, is the leading receiver for the league-leading Berlin Thunder (5-1 overall), and has become quarterback Rohan Davey's favorite target. Davey, who is also allocated to NFLEL by the New England Patriots, leads the league with a 108.2 passer rating, completing 76 of 126 passes (60.3 pct.) for 1,028 yards with 12 touchdowns versus 3 interceptions.
In last Saturday's game versus the Cologne Centurions (5/8/04), Gessner had 5 receptions for 98 yards and 1 TD (44 yards).
Former Brown runningback Mike Malan '02, who had NFL stints with the St. Louis Rams and New England Patriots, was signed today to an NFL Europe contract by the Amsterdam Admirals.
