Brown Announces Its 2006 Football Schedule

Providence, RI - The defending Ivy League Champion Brown Football Team has announced its 2006 schedule, with the Bears opening the season on Saturday, September 16, 2006 at home against the Georgetown Hoyas.

Coach Phil Estes' team posted a 9-1 overall record and 6-1 Ivy mark in 2005, and begins the defense of its Ivy League Championship with the 106th meeting against Harvard on September 23 at Brown Stadium.

The Bears will travel to Kingston, Rhode Island on September 30 in the 91st meeting for the Governor's Cup against URI. Estes' squad has won the last two meetings and leads the overall series by a 66-22 margin. Brown will renew its series with Holy Cross on October 7 in Worcester, Mass., facing the Crusaders for the first time since 1995. The two teams have met 51 times, dating back to 1928.

Brown travels to Princeton, NJ, for its third straight road game on October 14 to battle the Princeton Tigers, who finished second in the Ivy standings a year ago.

The Bears return to Providence on October 21 for a Homecoming match-up against the Cornell Big Red. Brown travels to Philadelphia on October 28 to battle the Penn Quakers in the 75th meeting between the two Ancient Eight teams.

Brown and Yale will battle for the 111th time, playing at Brown Stadium on November 4. The Bears travel to Hanover, New Hampshire to face Dartmouth on November 11, before returning home for their final regular season game against Columbia on November 18.

Brown's Annual Spring Game will be held at Brown Stadium on Saturday, May 6 at 1:00 p.m., culminating 12 days of spring practice.
