  • Richard Jarvis Named ECAC All-Star and All-New England

    Brown senior defensive end Richard “Dewey” Jarvis (Watertown, MA), a finalist for the Ivy League Defensive Player of the Year, has been named an ECAC First Team All-Star and a First Team All-New England selection.

    Brown senior defensive end Richard Jarvis (Watertown, Mass.), a two-time First Team All-Ivy selection, has been named one of three finalists for the Ivy League Football Defensive Player of the Year award. The Asa S. Bushnell Cup will be presented at a special reception and press conference presented by the Pasadena Tournament of Roses in the Mercury Ballroom of the New York Hilton Midtown beginning at 12:30 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 4. The presentation will be carried live on The Ivy League Network (ILN) at IvyLeague.tv.
  • Five Brown Players Named to 2017 All-Ivy Football Team

    Led by senior first team All-Ivy defensive end Richard Jarvis (Watertown, MA), five Brown players have been named to the 2017 All-Ivy Football Team as selected by the eight Ancient Eight head football coaches. Jarvis was a unanimous first team selection, earning first team honors for the second straight year. Senior offensive linemen Christian Montano (Orange, CT) and Clay Eubank (Coto De Caza, CA) earned second team All-Ivy honors, while senior safety Connor Coughlin (Medford, NY) and sophomore wide receiver Jakob Prall (Tipp City, OH) were named honorable mention All-Ivy selections.

    Columbia earned a second place finish in the Ivy League season with a 24-6 win over Brown Saturday afternoon at Wien Stadium’s Robert Kraft Field. The Bears out-gained the Lions by a 324-275 margin in total yards, but were only able to get into the end zone once.
  • Ryan Kopec and Ben Rosenblatt Named CoSIDA Academic All-District

    Brown University senior kicker Ben Rosenblatt (Newton Center, MA) and junior punter Ryan Kopec (Alpharetta, GA) have been selected to the CoSIDA 2017 Academic All-District Football Team. Both names will be placed on the national ballot for Academic All-American consideration.
  • Brown Concludes Its 2017 Season At Columbia

    Brown concludes its 2017 season against Columbia on Saturday, November 18, looking to play the unfamiliar spoiler role against the Lions. Columbia is a game out of first place and needs a win over the Bears and a Yale loss for a share of the Ivy League title. All the action kick-off at 1:00 pm in a game televised by SNY and available on WPRV-AM 790 radio.

    Brown football will host Dartmouth on Friday, November 10 at Fenway Park, one of the most historic and iconic sports facilities in the nation. A crowd of over 15,000 is expected to attend the game, which will be televised live on the NBC Sports Network, starting at 8:00 pm. The Bears-Big Green gridiron tilt is the first of three football games to be played at Fenway in nine days as part of the Fenway Gridiron Series, presented by Your Call Football. UMass, under coach Mark Whipple, Brown Class of 1979, will battle Maine tomorrow afternoon at 4:00 pm, and Boston College will face UConn next Saturday, November 18 at 7:00 pm on the Fenway Park turf.

  • Brown Hosts Penn In Salute To Service Day

    Brown hosts Penn in its final "home" game at Brown Stadium on Saturday, October 28 at 12:30pm. Both teams are seeking their first Ivy League win of the season. Brown Athletics, in conjunction with the Brown Football Association, is sponsoring Salute To Service Day, honoring all branches of the Armed Forces, along with our first responders - police and firefighters. Saturday's honorary captain is noted orthopedic surgeon Dr. Augustus A. White III ’57, the first African American graduate from the Stanford University School of Medicine, where he was president of the student body. He received a Bronze Star for his work as a captain serving with the U.S. Army Medical Corps during the Vietnam War. Dr. White served as chief of the orthopedic surgery department at Beth Israel Hospital in Boston, and founded the academic orthopedic program at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center.

    Brown completed its non-league schedule with a 2-1 record and returns to Ivy League action for the remainder of the season, starting with Saturday's game against the Princeton Tigers at Brown Stadium, starting at 12:30 p.m. Both teams are looking for their first Ivy League victory in Saturday's Homecoming/Family Weekend match-up on the East Side, with expectations of getting back into the race for the Ivy title.

    On Monday, October 16, Brown Football will host the 13th annual Bench Press for Cancer on Brown's Main Campus Green. This event was created in 2004 to help former team captain Lawrence Rubida '05 and his family pay for the medical bills associated with his battle against Ewing's Sarcoma.  Despite Lawrence's passing, his former teammates and those that have followed have lived by his credo "never quit."

It’s the place to be for the Ocean State’s chief executive, with Rhode Island Governor Gina Raimondo on hand tonight to present the Governor’s Cup at the completion of the game. Brown senior Richard Jarvis (Watertown, MA), a Biology concentrator and All-Ivy defensive end, is among those named as semifinalists.
