Providence, R.I. – Brown head coach Phil Estes and the Brown football team is looking forward to the opening of pre-season camp, with the Bears reporting on Tuesday, August 21st for a day of physical testing, and the squad hitting the field for its first full practice on Wednesday, August 22nd at 8:30 p.m., in a split practice session. With the return of several All-Ivy players, the Bears will look to challenge for the Ivy League title once again after placing second in the league standings in each of the last two years.
All practices will take place at Berylson Family Fields at the Erickson Athletic Complex. The Bears practice daily through Tuesday, September 4, with classes beginning on Wednesday, September 5. Brown's traditional weekday afternoon practice schedule will start with the opening of classes. In addition, Brown will have a closed scrimmage against Yale in New Haven, Conn.
Brown kicks-off its 135th season of intercollegiate football on Saturday, September 15, traveling to Worcester, Mass., to face New England rival Holy Cross.
The Bears open their home season on Saturday, September 22nd, hosting Harvard in the third ever night game played at historic Brown Stadium. The game will be televised nationally (NBC Sports Network), with kick-off on the East Side at 4:30 p.m. The attendance of 17,360 in Brown's first night game vs. Harvard in 2010 was the largest crowd of any sporting event in the State of Rhode Island that year.
