PROVIDENCE,  R.I. – Brown University Athletics will install a new integrated LED video and scoring system this fall at Brown Stadium, home to the university's football and track & field teams. Daktronics of Brookings, S.D., announced today that it is designing, manufacturing and installing the system, with a launch date of September 22, 2012, coinciding with Brown's home opening night football game against Harvard at Brown Stadium.

"The new video scoreboard will be the centerpiece of Brown Stadium, and provide our team and fans with an engaging video experience," said Brown head coach Phil Estes.  "We expect to promote the football program by creating a focal point for students and alumni to connect to our players with fun interactive contests, video previews, replays, statistics and much more."

"Brown Athletics and Daktronics have maintained a long-standing partnership and we appreciate their commitment to our student-athletes and coaches," said Brown's Director of Athletics Jack Hayes.  "The new video scoreboard will provide an interactive entertainment experience for our fans."

Brown fans will have the opportunity to follow the Bears while an LED video display, featuring Daktronics 15HD pixel spacing, shows live video and instant replays, scoring information, sponsor advertisements, vivid graphics and colorful animations.

Measuring more than 18 feet high by nearly 36 feet wide, the display will incorporate excellent clarity and contrast of images, multiple levels of protection from the elements and a robust cabinet design with an improved ventilation system. It is capable of both showing one large image and of being divided into separate windows to show a variety of information, all with outstanding brightness and wide-angle visibility.

A custom football scoreboard measuring 8 feet high by nearly 36 feet wide will be installed below the video display to show scoring, timing and statistical information.

Fans will experience high quality sound along with the new video and scoring system in the stadium with the integration of a Sportsound® 500HD audio system. Providing full-range sound reproduction and delivering clear and intelligible speech, Daktronics Audio offers high quality systems that can integrate with the dynamic displays in both indoor and outdoor sport venues.

"We are very pleased to be working with Brown University on this installation," Dave D'Amico, Daktronics Sales, said. "This addition to the stadium will certainly make a difference in the facility for the fans, players and coaches."
