Ryan’s Two Touchdowns Leads Brown Team To 14-0 Win In Spring Game

Providence, Rhode Island – A strong performance by quarterback John Ryan '13 lifted the Brown Team to a 14-0 victory over the White Team in Annual Brown Football Spring Game played at Brown Stadium Saturday afternoon.

 

The Brown team dominated the first half, building a 14-0 lead with Ryan at the helm.  Ryan ran two yards for a touchdown with 2:45 left in the first quarter to build a 7-0 advantage, capping a 78-yard scoring drive. He then tossed an 8-yard touchdown pass to Jimmy Saros '12 with 2:10 remaining in the half to top off a 91 yard scoring drive, giving the Bears a 14-0 lead at the half.

 

Outside linebacker Sam McGrath '12 contributed to the big first half with an interception for the Brown Team.

 

The second half was played with running time and neither team could muster a score.

 

Ryan completed 17 of 26 passes for 215 yards. Jordan Evans '14 was impressive at wide receiver for the Brown team with five receptions for 92 yards. Jerrrey Izon was the top rusher with 28 yards on 11 carries, while making three receptions for 40 yards.

 

The Brown Team was coached by the veterans on the Brown coaching staff, Abbott Burrell, Joe Leslie, Neil McGrath and Frank Sheehan.  The White Team was coached by the younger members of the Bears' staff, Kyle Archer, Paul Frisone, DJ Hernandez and Chris Nappi.
