Providence, Rhode Island - Brown freshman kicker Alexander Norocea (Hermosa Beach, CA) was named the Ivy League Rookie of the Week for playing a key role in the Bears' 33-30 double overtime victory over Stony Brook on Saturday.
In his first collegiate game, Norocea connected on two field goals and 4 of 4 extra points. He put Brown's first points on the board with a 30-yard field goal in the first quarter. Later, Norocea sent the game into overtime with a 30-yard field goal with 9:55 left in the game. In addition, Norocea shared the kick-off duties for the Bears.
Norcea and his Brown teammates are looking forward to an early season battle of two of the top teams in the Ivy League when Brown (1-0, 0-0 Ivy) hosts Harvard (1-0, 0-0 Ivy) on Saturday, September 25, in the first ever night game at historic Brown Stadium, Brown installed temporary lighting for the Saturday evening Homecoming match-up against the Crimson, with game time slated for 6:00 p.m. Four banks of Musco lights will illuminate Brown Stadium, with two banks of temporary lights towering above the stadium on either side of the field.
