Providence, R.I. - The Ivy League Champion men's crew was recently honored at halftime of the Brown - Cornell football game, as the school recognized the team's terrific spring season.
"It was terrific to see the team recognized by the crowd at the stadium," head coach Paul Cooke said. "We don't often get the opportunity to be in front of a big crowd, and the guys really enjoyed it."
After sweeping through an undefeated dual race season, the crew placed second at Eastern Sprints to Wisconsin. However, Brown placed first among the Ivies, giving them the league title. The crew then went on to race at the IRA Regatta, where they finished eighth in the country in the Varsity 8, and fifth overall as a team.
Making up the boat was, from bow, Paul Strombon '08, Chris Greene '08, Matt Wheeler '09, Cole Bonner '10, Ben Duggan '10, Gareth Seymour '09, Colin Keogh '08, Scott Morgan '10, and cox Rob O'Leary '09.
"It was a real thrill to be on the field in front of so many Brown fans," assistant coach Judah Rome said. "While we have already shifted our focus to having a strong team and good results next spring, it is really important to honor the accomplishments of the guys on the team. The team worked really hard last year and won some tough races, and I was happy to see them get a well-deserved moment of recognition for that."
