Brown Rowing Posts Strong Showing At Head of the Charles

The race is an international event, drawing rowers from every corner of the world. America's top collegiate teams travel to Boston for the October race.

The 2001 Regatta drew 6,000 rowers on a beautiful New England weekend. Rowers felt a strong, quartering, tailwind, which contributed to seven event records.

Brown Results: On the men's side, Championship Fours had the most impressive showing, posting a 6th place finish in that race. Also, in men's action, Championship Eights placed 19th out of forty entries. For the women, the Varsity placed 8th in Women's Championship Eights.

In other action, Carol Stricki (Norwood, MA) won Saturday's women's championship singles event. Two-time Olympic champion Ekaterina Karsten (Belarus) placed first in Sunday's 550-meter sprint. Duncan Free (Australia) won both Saturday's men's championship and Sunday's Sprint Challenge.

The U.S Team placed first in men's championship eights and men's championship fours. The U.S. Team won in women's championship eights and placed second in women's championship fours.
