May 21, 2008

Providence, RI - After the Brown men's crew earned the Ivy League Championship at the Eastern Sprints at Lake Quinsigamond on Sunday, members of the varsity eight have earned First Team All-Ivy honors.

The varsity crew of junior coxswain Rob O'Leary (Fayetteville, NY), stroke Scott Morgan (Palo Alto, CA), Colin Keogh (Greenwich, CT), Gareth Seymour (Niagara Falls, ONT), Ben Duggan (Bingham, UK), Cole Bonner (Chicago, IL), Matt Wheeler (Eugene, OR), Chris Greene (Cincinnati, OH), and Paul Strombom (Seattle, WA) earned the title with a time of 6:13.210, after an extremely close battle against Princeton, who finished with a 6:13.387.

Earning its seventh Ivy title in the history of the program, the crew had its best finish at Sprints in eight years. The Brown eights were the only crew to win medals in the varsity, junior varsity and freshmen events and finished second in the running for the Rowe Cup, just one point behind Wisconsin.

The men's crew will now prepare for the IRA's from June 5-7 in Camden, New Jersey.
