Bears Frosh Four Earn Bronze Medal At IRA Championships

Camden, NJ - The Brown men's crew team took part in the 2004 IRA Championships on the Cooper River in Camden, NJ over the weekend, earning a third place finish in the freshmen four grand final race with a time of 7:03.36. The Bears finished ninth overall as a team with 180.38 points.

Brown's freshman eight also earned a fourth place finish in its grand final race (6:17.15) as the Bears other three boats had strong races. The freshman eight boat had only lost to Harvard in eight previous races in the spring.

The Brown varsity eight won its third-level final in 6:10.22 and had the satisfaction of administering a sound beating to the Boston University crew, which had beaten the Bears at the Eastern Sprints three weeks ago.

Brown's open four finished second in its petite final (7:20.38) and the second varsity eight was second in its third level final with a time of 6:24.26.
