Bears Freshman Eight Win Petite Final At IRA Championships

Racing four boats in the petite finals of the 2005 IRA Championships on the Cooper River in Camden, NJ, Brown's freshman eight came through with a team-best first place finish. The varsity eight took fourth in its petite final while the freshman four placed fifth as did the varsity four (no coxswain).

As a team, Brown finished 11th overall with 158.53 points.Harvard successfully defended its national title, winning the varsity eight grand final race as well as the team points trophy.

The second seeded freshman eight timed in over four seconds ahead of second place finisher Cornell. Stanford, Navy and Oregon St. finished one-two-three ahead of the Bears in the varsity eight race.
