|Years at Brown:||3rd Year|
Joel Scrogin, a 1999 Brown graduate, returned to Marston Boathouse in 2004 as an assistant coach. After graduating from Brown, Joel worked in business and finance before returning to rowing as a coach at St. John's High School in Shrewsbury, MA. In 2003, Joel enrolled at Oxford, studying Comparative International Education and raced in the Blue Boat for Oxford in the 150th Oxford and Cambridge Boat Race. Joel began his rowing career in 1990 at St. John's, and continued his rowing at Brown, winning the Eastern Sprints and finishing second at IRA's as a freshman. He was a member of Coach Cooke's first freshman class at Brown. Joel went on to row on the varsity at Brown and eventually competed for the U.S. at the Nations Cup in the quadruple sculls. Like the entire coaching staff, Joel has strong ties to Brown University and to rowing at Brown. He is committed to seeing Brown become one of the most successful programs in the U.S.
