Brown Advances Four Boats to IRA Semifinals

Cherry Hill, N.J. – The Brown men's crew had an impressive day on the water at the 2012 IRA National Championships, advancing four boats to the semifinals. The varsity eight boat started off the racing on the Cooper River on Thursday morning, winning its heat by nearly a full length. The second varsity, freshman eight and varsity four boats all finished second in their heats.

The V8 boat showed good speed in the first race of the championship, finishing in 5:48.143, almost three seconds ahead of second-place Wisconsin. Bruno's time was the third fastest of any boat. The Bears now move on to the semifinals which will take place at 12:15/12:30 p.m., on Friday afternoon.

Brown's 2V8, F8 and V4 boats all put together solid races to advance to the semi's, but it was IRA-favorite Washington that stood in their way of the top spot of each race.
