Princeton, NJ – The Brown men's crew wrapped up an undefeated regular season at Princeton on Saturday morning, winning three of four events against the Tigers, including the varsity eight race that decided the 2010 Content Cup. The Bears pulled an impressive 5:37.4 to edge the Princeton men, and also won the second varsity eight and the varsity four.
In the third varsity eight race, in which Brown had two entries, the Bears' third eight engaged in a tight dual with the Princeton crew, with Bruno eventually pulling away for a narrow win. Rowing in a light tailwind, the Bears traversed the course in 5:49.0, beating Princeton's 5:51.8 and Brown's fourth varsity's 6:09.3.
Princeton took its sole victory of the day in the freshman eight, using a quick start to pull away for an eight-second win. The Tigers crossed the line in 5:50.5, while Brown came in at 5:58.9.
In the second varsity eight, Brown regained the upper hand, taking an open water win in an impressive performance. The Bears flew off the line, and continued opening up the margin over the course of the race, coming in at 5:49.9, with the Tigers following at 6:01.6.
Brown took another win in the final event of the day, as a thrilling varsity eight race gave the Bears the Content Cup. The boats battled down the 2000 meter course, but Brown emerged in front by just a few seats as the teams came through the wire, crossing the line in 5:37.4. Princeton was just behind, finishing in 5:40.6.
The Bears will be back in action on May 16, when they travel to Worcester, MA to compete at the EARC Sprints.
