Brown freshman point guard Jason Forte (Rockville, MD) has been named the Ivy League's Rookie of the Week for the fifth time this season as Brown completed its season with a weekend sweep of Dartmouth and Harvard.
Forte scored 11 points in Brown's 85-70 win over Dartmouth, while grabbing 4 rebounds. He tossed in a game high 17 points in the Bears' 92-83 victory over Harvard, handing out six assists. Forte converted 11 of 11 free throws and 8 of 15 shots from the field in the two games.
Forte finished the season as Brown's second leading scorer, averaging 11.3 points per game. His 121 assists led Brown and is 8th best for a season in Brown basketball history.
Brown accomplished a couple of milestones with its season-ending sweep of Dartmouth and Harvard. The two wins gives Brown 17 for the season (17-10), tying the school record for victories with the 1973-1974 Bears, who posted a 17-9 record. Brown's 32 wins in the last two years are the most in Brown history, eclipsing the 31 wins by Brown's 1972-1973 (14-12) and 1973-1974 (17-9) teams, and the 1973-1974 (17-9) and 1974-1975 (14-12) teams.
The Bears, who were 8-6 in the Ivy League this season and 9-5 last year, posted back-to-back winning Ivy seasons for the first time in 27 years when the Bears were 11-3 in 1973-1974, and 9-5 in 1974-1975.
