Providence, RI - Brown University freshman forward Scott Friske (Charlevoix, MI) was named the Ivy League Rookie of the Week for the third time this season after helping Brown to a 69-64 victory over Cornell.
Friske exploded for 23 points against the Big Red on 7 of 9 shooting from the field, including 1 of 1 shooting from behind the three-point arc. He also converted 8 of 9 free throws, grabbed five rebounds and handed out two assists against Cornell.
Friske has started 19 of 24 games for the Bears and is averaging 8.3 points per game, third on the Brown team. He ranks second on the Brown team with 4.6 rebounds per game and is shooting a team leading 50 percent from the field (67 of 133). He scored a career high 26 points against Quinnipiac earlier this season.
Brown wraps-up its 2005-2006 season this weekend at home on Friday and Saturday, March 3-4, against Princeton and Penn.
