Brown University senior guard Mike Martin (Agawam, MA) was named the Ivy League Player of the Week for the first time in his career when he proved to be the difference in Brown's key Ivy League win over Yale to complete the season sweep over the Elis.
Martin scored 13 of his season high 19 points in the second half, mostly with three-point daggers from long range. He connected on a career high 5 treys against the Elis (5 of 8), including 3 of 4 treys in the second half, while connecting on 4 of 4 free throws, all in the second half. Each time Yale tried to get back in the game, Martin connected on a key trey, including a 30-foot three-point basket as time was running out on the shot clock midway through the second half.
Coming off knee and foot surgery that forced him to miss Brown's last five games of the 2002-2003 season, and the first seven games this year, Martin is averaging 9.5 points and 3.8 rebounds per game. He scored 18 points against Central Connecticut and 15 points vs. Wright State earlier this year.
