Providence, Rhode Island - Brown's second half rally fell short as the Bears dropped a 62-47 decision to Albany at the Pizzitola Sports Center. Sophomore Damon Huffman led the Bears (2-8 overall) with 10 points, while freshman Scott Friske scored eight points and grabbed a career high 11 rebounds.
Sophomore Brent Wilson scored 11 of his game high 17 points in the second half for the Great Danes, who are now 5-6 on the season. Albany's Jason Siggers and Jon Iati netted 10 points each.
Albany held a 31-15 lead at the half as the Bears struggled from the field with 27 percent shooting. The Great Danes led by as many as 20 points in the second half, 42-22, on a jump shot by Siggers with 13:56 left to play.
The Bears pulled to within 13 points of Albany, 55-42, on a free throw by Damon with 3;00 left in the game.
Friske's eight points came on 4 of 5 shooting from the field, while his 11 rebounds included nine defensive rebounds. Bears' freshman Aaron Jimmenez saw his first significant playing time of the season and scored six points in 12 minutes of second half play. Juniors Marcus Becker and Sam Manhanga added five points each for the Bears.
The Bears will be back in action on Saturday, traveling to West Point, New York to battle Army. Game time is 1:00 p.m.
