Kingston, Rhode Island - The Brown men's basketball team dropped a 57-40 decision to the University of Rhode Island Saturday evening, despite a game high 12 points by Bears' senior Luke Ruscoe. The loss drops the Bears to 1-3 on the season, while URI is now 2-1.
Brown had the better of play in the first half, building a 23-19 lead at intermission behind Ruscoe's 8 first half points. The Bears had led by as many as six points in the first, 23-17, following a lay-up by Marcus Becker with 33 seconds remaining in the half.
Rhode Island outscored the Bears, 13-0, to open the second half and never looked back as the Bears connected on just one field goal in the first 11:12 of the second half.
Brown's shooting woes continued from behind the three-point arc, connecting on just 4 of 24 three-point attempts.
Ruscoe grabbed a team high six rebounds to go with his 12 points. Freshman Scott Friske had a solid performance for the second straight game, scoring eight points on 3 of 4 shooting from the field, while grabbing four rebounds.
Three Rams' players scored in double figures, with Will Daniels, Jamaal Wise and Jon Clark netting 10 points each.
After four consecutive games on the road, the Bears will play their first home game of the season on Wednesday, November 30th, against the Wagner Seahawks. Game time is 7:00 p.m. at the Pizzitola Sports Center.
