Nov. 24, 2002

Providence College took advantage of excellent outside shooting and perfect shooting from the free throw line to earn an 83-64 victory over Brown, avenging last year's loss to the Bears.

Brown trailed 40-25 at the half, but outscored the Friars 10-0 to open the second half and trail, 40-35 with 18:13 left in the game. Jaime Kilburn scored four points in the spurt and Mike Martin knocked down a three point basket.

The Friars answered with a 9-0 spurt and went on to outscore the Bears 14-4 over the next four minutes to grab a 54-39 lead with 14:19 remaining.

Maris Laksa, Ryan Gomes and Sheiku Kabba each scored 17 points for the Friars, with Gomes adding a game-high 12 rebounds to complete the double-double. The Friars were a perfect 16 of 16 from the free throw line.

Brown sophomore guard Jason Forte led all scorers with 18 points, hitting 7 of 11 shots from the field. Kilburn, senior Earl Hunt and sophomore GJ King added 10 points each for the Bears.
