Providence, RI - Junior guard Jim Goffredo scored 30 points on 8 of 10 shooting from behind the three point arc to lead Harvard to a 75-58 Ivy League victory over Brown at the Pizzitola Sports Center. The win lifts the Crimson to 11-6 overall and 3-1 in the Ivy League, while Brown falls to 6-11, 2-2 in Ivy play.
The first half was all Goffredo, who scored 19 points to help the Crimson build a 45-23 lead at intermission. After missing his first trey, Goffredo connected on seven straight three-point baskets in the half.
The closest Brown came in the second half was 15 points, 62-47, on a three-point basket by sophomore Mark MacDonald with 6:06 left to play.
Brown was led by sophomore Keenan Jeppesen, who scored 18 points on 6 of 12 shooting from the field. MacDonald also had a big game for the Bears, scoring 16 points on 5 of 10 shooting from the field, connecting on 4 of 6 treys. Sophomore Damon Huffman and junior Marcus Becker added seven points each.
Seniro Matt Stehle also scored in double figures for the Crimson with 17 points, while junior Brian Cusworth scored nine points and grabbed a game high 7 rebounds.
The Bears will be back in action next weekend at Penn and Princeton.
