Providence, Rhode Island - Sophomore Jason Forte scored 18 of his game high 23 points in the second half to lead five Brown players in double figures as the Bears defeated Yale, 94-84, for its fourth straight victory.
The win gives the Bears the season sweep of Yale for the first time since 1999, and puts them in a first place tie in the Ivy standings with a 2-0 Ivy mark, 7-9 overall. Yale dropped to 6-9 overall and 0-2 in the Ivy standings.
It looked like it was going to be a long night for the Bears when the Elis opened the game with a 9-2 lead. Coach Glen Miller's Brown team quickly answered with a 16-0 run, to grab an 18-9 lead on two free throws by senior Alai Nuualiitia with 13:05 left in the first half. The Bears never looked back, holding a 51-36 lead at the half.
Brown built its biggest lead in second half came on a three point play by Fotre, giving the Bears a 69-49 advantage with 11:26 left to play.
Strong free throw shooting kept the Elis at bay for the remainder of the game as the Bears knocked-down 31 of 33 free throws for the game.
In addition to Forte, senior earl Hunt, Brown's all-time scorer, scored 20 points and grabbed 6 rebounds. Senior Alai Nuualiitia scored 17 points, hitting 4 of 6 shots from the field, and 9 of 9 free throws.
Bears' junior Jaime Kilburn shot a perfect 8 of 8 from the field in scoring 16 points. Junior Harold Bailey was also perfect from the field, connecting on 4 of 4 field goals, including 3 of 3 from three-point range in scoring a career high 11 points.
Sophomore Edwin Draughan led the Elis with 19 points, while junior Matt Minoff registered 16 points, converting 6 of 7 field goals.
