Matt Mullery's 16 Points Leads Brown Over Bryant, 69-56

Providence, Rhode Island - Senior forward Matt Mullery scored 16 points and pulled down seven rebounds to lead Brown to a 69-56 win over Bryant in its final non-league game of the season. The win gives Brown a 6-8 record for the season, while the Bulldogs drop to 2-13 for the season.
Bears' senior Scott Friske also scored in double figures with a season high 15 points, while pulling down eight rebounds. Sophomore Peter Sullivan also scored in double figures for the Bears with 15 points and six rebounds.
Brown broke open a close game in the first half, outscoring the Bulldogs, 19-2, to grab a 16 point lead, 38-22, on a three point basket by Sullivan with 1:27 left in the half. A trey by Bryant's Adam Parztch at the buzzer cut Brown's halftime lead to 38-25.
Bryant mounted a second half comeback, pulling to within three points of the Bears, 50-47, on a lay-up by Nick Pontes with 10:14 remaining in the game.
Brown took over the game once again, outscoring the Bulldogs 12-3 over the next eight minutes to pull ahead by a 62-50 margin on a lay-up with 2:08 left.
The difference in the game was on the backboards where the Bears out-rebounds Byrant, 43-22. Senior Chris Skrelja grabbed a game high 11 rebounds, while scoring eight points.
Sophomore Sean Kane also had a strong game for the Bears, scoring nine points on 3 of 6 shooting from behind the three-point arc, while pulling down a career high five rebounds.
Pontes lead all scorers with 18 points for the Bulldogs, while Cecil Gresham added 13 points.
Brown's 14-game Ivy League Playoff will begin next Friday, January 16 at home against Yale. Game time is 7:00 p.m. at the Pizzitola Sports Center.
