Head Coach Jesse Agel Welcomes Brown Basketball Freshmen/Newcomers To Campus

Brown men’s basketball coach Jesse Agel and his coaching staff have welcomed five newcomers to campus, who will all join the Bears' squad for the 2010-2011 season. Brown's recruiting class includes: freshman guard/forward Josh Biber (Lorain, OH), freshman guard Hakeem Harris (Bergenfield, NJ), freshman guard Sean McGonagill (Brookfield, IL), freshman forward Dockery Walker (Dover, DE), and sophomore transfer Stephen Albrecht (Crown Point, IN). In addition, sophomore Tyler Ponticelli, who missed all of last season due to injury, will be ready for action this season.

Brown Leads NCAA Division I With Six Named To NABC Honors Court
The National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) announced that six members of the Brown men’s basketball team have been named to the Honors Court, recognizing those collegiate basketball student-athletes who excelled in academics during the 2009-2010 season. Brown had the highest number of student-athletes honored among all Division I teams. Named to the Honors Court from Brown are Steve Gruber ’10 (Milwaukee, WI), Garrett Leffelman ’11 (Naperville, IL), Matt Mullery ’10 (Millstone, NJ), Peter Sullivan ’11 (Wilmette, IL), Chris Taylor ’11 (Plymouth, MN) and Adrian Williams ’11 (Atlanta, GA).

Winter Academic All-Ivy Announced
Providence, RI- The Ivy League released its winter list of Academic All-Ivy honorees, with ten Brown student-athletes being recognized. The five males and five females were starters or key reserves on their respective varsity teams and carry a 3.0 or better cumulative grade point average.

Matt Mullery Selected All-Ivy In Men’s Basketball
Brown senior center Matt Mullery (Millstone, NJ), Brown’s 16th all-time career leading scorer, has earned All-Ivy honors for the second consecutive season, being selected second team All-Ivy in a vote of the eight Ancient Eight head basketball coaches.
