Providence, R.I. - Brown freshman forward Leland King (Inglewood, CA) was named the Ivy League Rookie of the Week after a breakout week where he averaged 17 points per game and 10 rebounds in two games and led the Bears to road victories over UMass-Lowell and Longwood.
King registered a double-double in Brown's 87-76 win over UMass-Lowell with 16 points and 12 rebounds, both career highs. He connected on 7-of-12 field goals, including 2-of-2 from behind the three-point arc against the River Hawks.
In Brown's 81-69 win over Longwood, King registered a career scoring high once again with 18 points, while grabbing eight rebounds and blocking four shots. He set the pace in the first half against the Lancers with 16 points and seven rebounds as Brown built a 17-point lead at intermission.
In the two games, King shot 59-percent from the field (13-of-22) and 80-percent from behind the three-point arc (4-of-5).
King and his Brown teammates return to the hardwood on Wednesday, November 27, traveling to Smithfield, Rhode Island for a 4pm match-up against Bryant.
