Adrian Williams’ 26 Points Leads Brown Over Dartmouth, 100-76

Providence, Rhode Island -  Playing the final home game of his career, Brown senior guard Adrian Williams scored a season high 26 points with seven treys to lead the Bears to a 100-76 Ivy League win over Dartmouth at the Pizzitola Sports Center.  The win lifts the Bears to 11-15 overall, 4-8 in the Ivy League, while Dartmouth falls to 5-21, 1-11 in Ivy play.

The 100 points are the most for a Brown team since a 100-83 win over Harvard in the 2003-2004 season.

Williams' 26 points came on 8 of 13 shooting from the field, including 7 of 12 shooting from behind the three point arc.  The seven treys tie his personal career best, and rank second in Brown basketball history. He now has 158 career treys, fifth all-time at Brown. Sullivan also jumped into fourth place in all-time career free throws at Brown, now with 384.

Bears' senior forward Peter Sullivan registered a double-double with 17 points, on 10 of 10 shooting from the free throw line, and 11 rebounds. With 17 points tonight, Sullivan moved into sixth place on Brown's all-time scoring list, now with 1,328 career points.

Three more Brown players scored in double figures.  Freshman Sean McGonagill just missed a double-double with 14 points and nine assists.  Sophomore Tucker Halpern netted 12 points, while senior Garrett Leffelman added 11 points.

The Bears opened the game with its four seniors in the lineup – Leffelman, Sullivan, Chris Taylor and Williams - and quickly built a 23-14 advantage.

Brown pulled ahead by 26 points in the first half, 44-18, following a trey by Williams with 4:55 remaining before intermission.  A late trey by Big Green guard David Rufful cut Brown's lead to 51-30 at the half.

The Bears kept up the solid offense in the second half and led by as many as 27 points, 100-73 in the waning moments.

The Bears had a 40-33 advantage on the backboards, and shot a solid 52-percent from the field, connecting on 29 of 56 field goals. Brown blocked eight shots as a team, led by sophomore Andrew McCarthy with four blocked shots.

RJ Griffin led the Big Green with 19 points, while Tyler Melville added 13 points.  Clive Weeded scored 11 points and grabbed a game high 12 rebounds for Dartmouth.

Brown concludes its 2010-2011 season on the road next week, traveling to Ithaca, New York on Friday, March 4 to battle Cornell, and to New York City on Saturday, March 5 to face Columbia.  Both games tip-off at 7:00 p.m.
