Providence, RI - Brown University senior guard Garrett Leffelman (Naperville, IL) has been named to the Capital One Academic All-America® Men's Basketball teams, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Leffelman was named to the Academic All-American second team.
A native of Naperville, Illinois, Leffelman is an Economics and Political Science concentrator with a 3.89 grade point average. He has started 22 of 23 games this season and played in 80 career games for the Bears. An Academic All-Ivy selection in 2010, Leffelman is Brown's fourth leading scorer with 9.7 points per game. He is shooting a sizzling 84-percent from the free throw line, connecting on 36 of 43 free throws.
Leffelman has scored in double figures 12 times this season, including a career high 22 points against Providence College, connecting on 9 of 15 field goals, including 4 of 7 from behind the three point arc, equaling his career high in treys. He scored 11 points in last week's upset victory over first place Princeton. Leffelman pulled down a career high seven rebounds in games against Fordham and Yale.
