Providence, Rhode Island - Brown University freshman point guard Sean McGonagill has been named the Ivy League's Rookie of the Week following his strong performance in games against Rhode Island and Sacred Heart, and helping the Bears (2-1) to their best start in 10 years.
McGonagill stood out against Rhode Island, scoring a team high 11 points on 4 of 8 shooting from the field, while also grabbing five rebounds and handing out five assists.
In Brown's win over Sacred Heart, McGonagill tossed in nine points and distributed a career high eight assists. He connected on 3 of 4 field goals against Sacred Heart, including 2 of 3 from behind the three-point arc.
For the season, McGonagill is averaging 9.7 points per game, while dishing out 6.3 assists per game. He's shooting 56-percent from the field, including 54-percent from behind three-point range.
McGonagill and his Brown teammates will be back in action again on Wednesday, November 24, hosting St. Francis (NY) in a 4:00 p.m. start at the Pizzitola Sports Center.
