McCarthy (Sudbury, Mass.) was named the Ivy league Rookie of the
Week for the second time this season for his performance in the
Bears' key Ivy League win over Yale in New Haven, and for his play
McCarthy's inside play was the difference in Brown's 75-66 victory over Yale, Friday evening coming off the bench to score 14 points and pull down a game high eight rebounds and handing out two assists against the Bulldogs. McCarthy had to step up with All-Ivy center Matt Mullery playing at half strength with an injury, and All-Ivy forward Peter Sullivan missing the last 33 minutes of the game after being injured. McCarthy, scoring all of his points in the paint, connected on 7 of 12 field goals against Yale.
Earlier in the week, McCarthy had nine points, six rebounds and four assists against Quinnipiac.
McCarthy is seventh in the Ivy League in rebounding with 5.6 per game and is averaging 8.1 points per game for the Bears.
McCarthy and his Brown teammates will host a re-match with Yale on Friday, January 22 at the Pizzitola Sports Center, starting at 7:00 p.m.
