Bears and Friars Tangle At The Dunk
Providence, Rhode Island - Brown’s shortest trip of the
season comes tonight as the Bears bus downtown Providence to battle
the PC Friars at the Dunkin’ Donuts Center at 7:00 p.m.
Brown (4-6) had all it could handle with Minnesota on Saturday
afternoon, falling to the Golden Gophers by a 91-55 margin. Senior
Steve Gruber and freshman Andrew McCarthy scored 10 points each to
lead the Bears. Providence (5-3) dropped an 86-82 decision to URI
in Kingstown, Rhode Island on Saturday.
Following Monday’s game against the Friars, Brown will be
sidelined for the next 21 days, as the Bears break for final exams
and the Holiday’s. Brown resumes action on December 28
returning home to the Pizzitola Sports Center against Kean.
Brown will be playing the final game of a grueling stretch of 11
games in 24 days, reminiscent of play in the NBA.
Brown and Providence have met 114 times, dating back to the
1921-1922 season, with the Friars holding an 88-26 series
advantage. Last year, Providence came away with an 86-62 win over
the Bears on 12/3/08 at the Dunkin Donuts Center. Brown’s
last win over Providence came three years ago on 11/18/06,
defeating the Friars, 51-41.
