Winter Academic All-Ivy Announced
Providence, RI- The Ivy League released its winter list of Academic All-Ivy honorees, with ten Brown student-athletes being recognized. The five males and five females were starters or key reserves on their respective varsity teams and carry a 3.0 or better cumulative grade point average.

Senior Niko Scott scored a game high 22 points to lead Columbia to a Ivy League win over Brown in the final game of the season for both teams. Junior Garrett Leffelman led the Bears with a career high 20 points on 7 of 15 shooting from the field and 4 of 9 shooting from behind the three-point arc, while senior Matt Mullery added 19 points.

Cornell Tops Brown, 95-76, Gains NCAA Tournament Bid
Cornell connected on an Ivy League record 20 treys to capture the Ivy league Championship and become the first team in the country to punch its ticket into the NCAA Tournament with a 95-76 victory over Brown at the Pizzitola Sports Center. The win lifts the Big Red to 26-4 overall and 12-1 in the Ivy League, while Brown falls to 11-19, 5-8 in Ivy play.

Brown Wraps-Up 2009-2010 Season At Home vs. Cornell and Columbia
Brown will wrap-up its 2009-2010 season at home this weekend, hosting first place Cornell and Columbia at the Pizzitola Sports Center on Friday and Saturday, March 5 & 6. The Bears, winners of four of its last six games, will look to fend off Cornell’s (25-4, 11-1 Ivy) bid to be the first team to qualify for the NCAA Tournament. Brown seniors Steve Gruber and Matt Mullery will wrap-up their collegiate playing careers on Saturday, and will be honored in ceremonies prior to the Bears’ game against Columbia (10-16, 4-8 Ivy).

Mullery’s 20 Points Leads Brown Over Dartmouth, 76-57
Senior Matt Mullery scored 20 points and freshman Tucker Halpern added 16 points, to lead Brown to a 76-57 Ivy League victory over Dartmouth at Leede Arena Saturday evening. The win, Brown’s fourth in its last six games, gives the Bears an 11-18 overall record, 5-7 in Ivy play, while Dartmouth falls to 5-21, 1-11 in the Ivy League.

Harvard Takes Down Brown, 91-71
Freshman Brandyn Curry scored 13 of his game high 21 points in the first half as Harvard built a 54-33 halftime lead and cruised to a 91-71 win over Brown at Lavietes Pavilion Friday evening. The loss snaps a modest two-game Brown winning streak and drops the Bears to 10-18 overall, 4-7 in the Ivy League. Harvard extended its record to 19-6, 8-3 in Ivy play, tying the school record for wins in a season.

Brown junior Peter Sullivan led the Bears with 20 points and six rebounds, while junior Garrett Leffelman tossed in a career high 16 points on sizzling 6 of 9 shooting from the field. #25 Cornell Holds Off Brown, 74-60
25th-ranked Cornell had all it could handle with Brown, but closed with a 16-4 run in the game’s last seven minutes to earn a 74-60 Ivy League win over the Bears at Newman Arena. Bears’ senior center Matt Mullery led all scorers with 21 points and became the 23rd player in Brown basketball history to score 1,000 or more career points. His 1,000th point came on a lay-up with 12:55 left in the first half and gave the Bears an 18-16 lead. Mullery now has 1,015 career points for the Bears.

Columbia Rallies For 65-54 Win Over Brown
Sophomore Noruwa Agho scored 18 points and junior Asenso Ampim scored 11 of his 17 points in the second half, to rally Columbia to a 65-54 win over Brown Friday evening at Levien Gymnasium. The Bears were led by senior Matt Mullery, who netted 17 points and pulled down eight rebounds. Mullery now has 994 career points and will look to become the 23rd player in Brown basketball history to score 1,000 career points tomorrow evening at Cornell.

Penn Tops Brown, 55-54, in Controversial Ending
Junior Dan Monckton’s lay-up off a missed three-point basket was ruled good at the buzzer by the officials to give Penn a controversial 55-54 win over Brown at the Pizzitola Sports Center. The replay viewed later clearly showed the basket came after the buzzer sounded and the red light on the backboard was lit. In fact, Monckton had yet to touch the ball when the clock hit 0:00 and the buzzer sounded. Unfortunately for the Bears, replay was not available at the scorers’ table so the referee’s decision stood.

Sophomore Doug Davis scored 14 of his game high 16 points in the first half as Princeton built a 40-18 halftime lead and cruised to a 63-46 win over Brown at the Pizzitola Sports Center. The win lifts the Tigers to 10-5 overall, 1-0 in the Ivy League, while Brown drops to 7-13, 1-2 in Ivy play.
