Drabinski Names Bill Cilento an Assistant Coach

Providence, RI - Head Baseball Coach Marek Drabinski has named Bill Cilento an assistant coach for the 2006-2007 season. Cilento joins the Bears after a two-year assistant coaching stint at the University of New Orleans. Prior to his time with UNO, Cilento served as an assistant coach at Siena College for three seasons.

At UNO, Cilento oversaw the Privateer's infielding corps and recruiting. While a member of the Siena staff, Cilento was the pitching coach and recruiting coordinator for the Saints. His 2003 pitching staff threw a record six conference shutouts and posted a 3.23 conference earned run average.

As a coach, Cilento has guided young men at all levels. He served as hitting instructor for the 2002 regular-season champion Schenectady Mohawks of the New York Collegiate Baseball League. He has also coached at the American Legion level, helping guide Cissel Saxon Post 41 in Montgomery County, MD, to the 2001 Maryland State Championship. He also served as an instructor at the renowned Stanford All-Star camp.

A 2003 graduate of Siena College, the catcher/third baseman was a four year starter and part of two Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference regular season titles and a 1999 appearance in the NCAA tournament. As a senior, he was named to the MAAC All-Tournament Team.
