Kutler Named Playoff MVP in Cape Cod League

PROVIDENCE, RI - Brown junior outfielder Matt Kutler (Omaha, NE) has been named the SportsTicker, ESPN Playoff MVP for the Cape Cod Baseball League. With his team leading the best-of-three series 1-0, Kutler led the Wareham Gatemen to the league championship with the game-winning hit in the bottom of the ninth inning.

In five playoff games, Kutler hit .350 with nine RBI and seven hits, two of which were game winners. During the regular season, Kutler finished sixth in the league in batting average at .301. He also had 43 hits and 15 RBI on the season.

Kutler was a First Team All-Ivy selection in Brown's 2002 season. He finished ninth in the league with a .358 batting average and led the league with nine triples. His nine triples set the Brown season record and made him Brown's all-time leader in triples for a career (13). Kutler also tied for first in the Ivy League with 64 hits, ranked fourth in RBI with 43, third in doubles with 14, and third in total bases with 105.
