Kutler And Christian Earn All-Northeast Regional Honors

The American Baseball Coaches' Association has announced its 2005 All-Region teams and Brown senior Matt Kutler (Omaha, NE) and junior Paul Christian (Chapel Hill, NC) were both selected to the Northeast Region teams. Kutler, who was also named a ABCA/Rawlings Third Team All-American, was selected to the First Team while Christian earned Second Team honors for the second year in a row.
Kutler was drafted by the Florida Marlins and was named the Ivy League Player of the Year. He finished the year ranked seventh in the nation with a .427 batting average. He also received Brown's Fritz Pollard Award, which is given to the male varsity athlete of the year. He broke virtually every batting record in school history and also became the Ivy League's all-time hits leader with 260.
Christian has earned First Team All-Ivy honors the past two seasons. He posted a .372 average in Ivy play, driving in a team-high 22 runs. He led the league in runs scored with 43 on the season and was tied for second with eight homeruns. He already ranks fourth in Brown history with 24 career homeruns. Christian also led the Bears with 14 doubles on the season, ten coming in league play.
Brown finished the year with a program-best 14-6 record in Ivy League play.
