Reardon and Daniels Named All-New England By NEIBA

May 27, 2008

Providence, RI - Senior designated hitter Conor Reardon (Branford, CT) and junior center fielder Steve Daniels (Fox Point, WI) have been named to the 2008 New England Intercollegiate Baseball Association's All-New England Division 1 Teams. Reardon was selected to the First Team, while Daniels was chosen for the Second Team by the association's 17 Division 1 head coaches.

A First Team All-Ivy selection, Reardon led the Bears with a .396 average, good for fifth in the Ivy League, was second on the team with a .443 on-base percentage, .478 slugging percentage, 62 hits (5th in the League), and 10 doubles, and third with 75 total bases. He finished the season on a team-high 18-game hitting streak, and currently ranks as the fourth-hardest batter to strike out in all of Division I, going down just once every 26.2 at-bats. A history concentrator with a 3.94 GPA entering his final semester, Reardon was recently named a First Team CoSIDA/ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District selection. His success this season was even more incredible considering an off-field injury caused him to miss the past two seasons.

Daniels, a Second Team All-Ivy selection, has led off and played center field in Brown's last 92 games, dating back to opening day of the 2007 season. One of three players to start all 44 games this season, Daniels hit .341, finishing with team highs with 63 hits, fourth in the Ivy League, 42 runs, fourth in the League, five triples, second in the League, and 19 stolen bases, third in the League. In the field, he made just one error all season in 91 chances, also making his fair share of spectacular diving catches. He was a Second Team CoSIDA/ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District selection, posting a 3.47 GPA entering the Spring semester as an economics concentrator. The 2006 Ivy League Rookie of the Year, Daniels is already second all-time in Brown history with 12 career triples and fifth with 57 career steals.

The All-New England Division 1 first and second teams constitute the University Division roster for the 2008 NEIBA New England College Baseball All-Star Game to be played at Fenway Park in Boston, Mass., on June 14.
