Providence, RI - Brown junior baseball player J.J. Eno (Kahului, HI) has been named a CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine District I Academic All-American. A former walk-on, Eno has been a key contributor for the Bears this season, hitting .312 in 31 games. Eno is a Neuroscience concentrator and will enter the Warren Alpert Medical School as part of Brown's Program in Liberal Medical Education upon graduation.
Eno was actually unsuccessful in his first attempt to walk on to the baseball team as a freshman, as Head Coach Marek Drabinski did not have enough space on his roster to keep a walk-on. Showing the persistence that has made him successful in and out of the classroom, Eno came back in his sophomore year and made the team, and after being used in 17 games last season, became a key part of Brown's lineup this season. He hit in the #2 spot in the order for much of the first part of the season, and after a short slump in the middle of the year, Eno came back to hit .324 in the Ivy League, playing in 14 League games and starting 10. On the year, Eno has 24 hits in 31 games played.
