Kutler Named Ivy League Baseball Player of the Week

PROVIDENCE, RI - Brown sophomore left fielder Matt Kutler (Omaha, NE) was named the Ivy League Player of the Week on April 23.

Kutler hit .600 (12-for-20) with three doubles, two triples and 12 RBI as the Bears went 5-1 in six games last week. In a 5-0 win at Pace on April 18, Kutler broke the Brown season record for triples by notching his eighth of the year. The previous record of seven was established in 1982. Last week he also became the career leader in triples at Brown with 13.

The sophomore put on an offensive display as he went six-for-eight with two doubles, a triple and five RBI in a doubleheader sweep of Dartmouth on Saturday. Kutler leads the team in hitting (.382), hits (50), and triples (9), and ranks second with 36 RBI.

The Bears (20-17, 8-4 Ivy), ranked fifth in New England, will return to action on Wednesday, April 24 for a doubleheader at Vermont beginning at 1 p.m.
