Matt Colantonio Earns Second Ivy Rookie of the Week Honor

Providence, RI - Brown freshman catcher Matt Colantonio (Garden City, NY) was named Ivy League Rookie of the Week for the second time this season on Tuesday. In five games last week, Colantonio reached base in half of his 20 plate appearances, continuing to lead the team in batting average and on-base percentage.

Colantonio got the start behind the plate in five of the Bears' six games last week, scoring in four of them and driving in runs in three. He hit .333 (5-for-15), also reaching on two walks and three hit-by-pitches for a .500 on-base percentage.

As of Tuesday morning, Colantonio was sixth in the Ivy League with a .403 batting average and fifth with a .506 on-base percentage. However, he went 3-for-3 with a walk and a hit-by-pitch in Brown's win over Quinnipiac on Tuesday, those numbers were up to .427 and .533, respectively.
