Providence, RI - The Brown baseball team will now open up the Ivy season at home against Princeton on Tuesday after a series of schedule changes due to the weather and field conditions. The Bears were originally scheduled to play at Cornell on Saturday and at Princeton on Sunday but mother nature put things on hold all weekend long as well as Monday. The Tigers will now travel to Providence to take on the Bears at noon on Tuesday at Brown's Aldrich Field. The Cornell doubleheader will be played at a later date.
Brown is currently 5-9 on the season, winning four of its last six games. Junior Eric Larson leads the Bears with a .426 average at the plate while junior Danny Hughes and senior Matt Kutler have each driven in 12 runs.
Sophomore Bryan Tews leads all Brown starting pitchers with a 5.33 ERA in 25.1 innings. Junior Shaun McNamara has already picked up two wins on the season while senior Chris Davidson is sporting a mere 1.80 ERA as Brown's closer.
The Bears finished 9-11 in the Red Rolfe Division of the Ivy League last season while Princeton went 12-8 in the Gehrig Division. The Tigers defeated Dartmouth in the Ivy League play-off series to earn a berth into the NCAA Tournament.
