Six Run Sixth Lifts Santa Clara To 8-4 Win Over Bears

Santa Clara, CA - The baseball team closed out its west coast swing with an 8-4 loss to Santa Clara on Sunday. The Bears went 1-2 in the three-game series with the Broncos. Brown, now 1-7 on the year, held a 3-0 lead but Santa Clara broke out to an 8-3 lead with a two run fifth and six run sixth. The Bears added one more run in the ninth.
Sophomore Ethan Silverstein pitched five innings allowing just three runs, two earned, on just three hits. Senior Chris Davidson pitched one inning of scoreless relief while freshman Jeff Dietz pitched two innings of scoreless action.
Junior Eric Larson went 2-4 with a two-run homerun and two runs scored. Junior Paul Christian went 2-4 with a solo homer along with a double and two runs batted in. Senior Bobby Wiginton added a double as for the Bears.
