Bears Strand Ten In 5-3 Loss To San Jose State

Santa Clara, CA - The Brown baseball team left ten runners on base in a 5-3 loss to San Jose State at Manicupal Stadium on Saturday night. The Bears, 1-6 on the season, had the chance to the win in the ninth with the bases loaded and only one out but failed to capitalize. Senior Chris Contrino led Brown with a 3-3 performance at the plate.

Junior James Cramphin made his first start of the season on the mound, pitching five solid innings. He allowed four runs, three of them earned on four hits and posted four strikeouts.

Sophomore Clint Dykehouse pitched one and two-thirds of scoreless relief, allowing just one hit.

Offensively, Contrino drove in one run on his three hits while sophomore Devin Thomas went 2-5. Junior Paul Christian went 2-3 at the plate as well.

Brown will close out its west coast trip against Santa Clara on Sunday beginning at 4 p.m. eastern time.
