Fifth Inning Rally By #6 FSU Does Bears In

Tallahassee, FL - The Brown baseball team fell 21-5 in game two of its three-game series with 6th ranked Florida State on Saturday afternoon. The Seminoles remain a perfect 11-0 at home this season and 13-1 on the season while the Bears drop to 0-2.

Brown jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first after a single by junior Bryan Tews and a double of junior Devin Thomas. Junior Eric Larson then drove home Tews with a groundout to third.

Florida State tied things up at 1-1 in the fourth and went on to score 15 runs in the fifth inning to break the game open. The Seminoles tacked on two more runs in the sixth and three more in the seventh while the Bears got a run in the seventh and three in the ninth for the 21-5 final.

Brown used a total of six pitchers on the day with senior co-captain Shaun McNamara getting the start. In 4.1 inning, he gave up five earned runs.

Tews went 3-4 while sophomore Ryan Murphy had another solid outting, going 2-5. Thomas also tallied three hits in five at-bats. Sophomore Jeff Dietz went 1-1 with an RBI and freshman Dan Shapiro went 2-5 with an RBI as well.

Brown will wrap up its series with Florida State tomorrow at noon.
