PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Senior Marc Sredojevic (Mendham, N.J.) and junior Sam Grigo (Westbrook, Conn.) of the Brown baseball team both gained CoSIDA First Team Academic All-District accolades, the College Sports Information Directors of America announced on Thursday.
Sredojevic, an Economics concentrator, put together a standout senior campaign for the Bears. The first baseman went all 37 games without an error and paced the team in batting average (.339), slugging percentage (.484) and on-base percentage (.459). He also ranked fourth in the Ivy League with a .409 batting average in league play and posted 11 multiple-hit games during the season.
Grigo, an Economics concentrator, hit .313 overall and .329 during league contests. He started all 37 games in right field and led the Bears with 47 hits, adding 21 RBIs and four triples with 24 runs scored. Grigo led the team with a 15-game hitting streak during the season and had 12 multiple-hit games.
The CoSIDA Academic All-District and Academic All-America Teams program recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom. To be nominated, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) at his/her current institution.
